What to Expect at Your First Pelvic Floor PT Appointment
Let’s be honest – walking into a pelvic floor physical therapy session can feel a little nerve-wracking if you don’t know what to expect. But here’s the good news: we’re here to make your experience as comfortable, empowering, and stress-free as possible.
At your first visit to Wings Physiotherapy, we’ll start with a conversation. We want to understand what’s going on in your body, how it’s impacting your life, and what goals you have for your care. You’re the expert on your experience, and we’re here to listen.
From there, we’ll do a movement and postural assessment – looking at how your body moves, breathes, and supports itself. If you’re comfortable, we may also do a gentle internal pelvic exam to assess your pelvic floor muscles directly. This is always optional and fully explained before anything happens.
Our treatment approach may include:
- Breathwork and core retraining
- Manual therapy and myofascial release
- Education about daily habits, posture, and movement
- Strengthening or downtraining the pelvic floor
- Coordination work for better muscle timing
You won’t just be handed a sheet of exercises and sent on your way – we’ll guide you through each step with ongoing support and personalized care.
